All Wars End

Filming for All Wars End is officially over and it's now going into post-production. It's one of the most dramatic, compelling, and wonderful films that I've ever been involved in. The film, written and directed by Carlos Londono, deals with PTSD and war and the affect it has on soldiers. So proud to have been part of it.

In Malwina Sworczuk's yet-to-be-titled Super-8 filmJust got back from an amazing month in London, where I was cast as "A"/Alice in the Fringe play, Cut Throat (by Eleanor Haskins-Griffiths, directed by Ross Drury; co-starring Sarah Jayne-Harris, Ulrika Krishnamurti, Maya Thomas, and Rustyna Edwards). The play was staged twice at Theatro Technis as part of the DYS-PLA Feastifull (in conjunction with Dyslexia Awareness Week). The audience was wowed by the performances and the play itself, and the way it was staged and directed.

While in London, I was also cast in Malwina Sworczuk's yet-to-be-titled Super-8 short. In it, I play a slightly-offbeat, feline-obsessed woman in search of the perfect man. This stylized, silent film is graced with a few of London's famous landmarks. It is bound for film-festivals upon completion.

So excited about the recent short I did called Company Training. The film, directed by Jose Jacho and written by Alfredo Evaize Abaunza, has been submitted to the 100 Hour Film Race 2011. The theme--broken, the action--pressing a button, the prop--a lollipop. Lots of luck to my entire team!

Just wrapped my role as the Church Woman on the Discovery Channel show Real Vice Miami (EP 103). The re-enactment was about the infamous 1986 FBI Miami shootout. A bunch of my friends were cast, too--Michael Vadnal, Marianne Haaland, and Nikki Buttery. Special thanks to Kendra, Ed, Steve, Bronic, my scene partner Rey Hernandez...and the terrific cast and crew! The show will air sometime in January.

Awesomesauce alert! I recently wrapped my role as Carol--the diet obsessed, clothes hungry, shop-a-holic housewife--in the Indie comedy short The Yellow Diet. The film, written and directed by Ashley C. Harris, is "based on women and their obsession with the latest diets, and the people that are making millions behind the scenes." Ashley Harris, who also wrote and directed the film LINES, is a multi-talented director, writer, and actor. That said, I know this film is going to turn out to be good!

I'm so excited to be playing the part of 'Michelle' in Richard Ribuffo's upcoming full length feature Indie, Awakenings, starring Michael Vadnal as the lead character and also starring Marianne Haaland.. The film is still in pre-production mode, but filming is scheduled to start sometime soon.

Me and Mr. Burt Reynolds—my mentor, teacher, and friend.

It's official! I'm a BRIFT Graduate! My fellow BRIFTies and I presented our graduation scenes at the 2011 Summer Showcase (June 23-25). My scene partner Michael Vadnal and I presented Chocolate by Frederick Stroppel--a hilarious farce about an aloof detective and a murderous wife. On our last night, after curtain call, we were each called up on stage and presented with a BRIFT Certificate of Training by our instructor, Mr. Burt Reynolds. What an honor! Check out the articles here and here and here to read more about the Showcase :)

Me and my amazing instructor/teacher/mentor/friend, Mr. Burt Reynolds!

I never imagined doing an impromptu Improv with SNL Alumni Victoria Jackson. But I did. Thank you, Todd Vittum, for your excellent training and guidance :)

Improving with Victoria Jackson!

Check out the commercial Olive and I did for the Downtown Boca Film Festival! Thank you Talina Adamo Oblander and Ryan Synn of Black Onyx Productions!

Very good news! I'm playing Lourdes in William Butland's full-length drama, All That You Can't Leave Behind! The film is nearing completion and will soon go into post-production.

The film Lumiere Fantome recently won Best Short Film at the L-Dub Film Festival!

Lumiere Fantome is a haunting tale based on the life of the Oakley brothers who built what is now known as the Lake Worth Playhouse (where, ironically, I did two plays at since moving down here--Modern Orthodox and Brighton Beach Memoirs). I play the role of Clarence Oakley's wife, Leota, who tragically dies and haunts her husband.

As Leota Oakley in "Lumiere Fantome"

I'm currently taking Mr. Burt Reynolds' Master Acting Class at Burt Reynolds Institute for Film & Theatre (BRIFT). I love learning everything I can from this living legend/mentor/friend and honing my acting skills to become the best actor I can be!

Brighton Beach Memoirs

I'm very excited to announce that I won "Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Play" (2009-2010) for my role as Blanche in the Lake Worth Playhouse production of Brighton Beach Memoirs! Thank you--this means so much to me!

In my most recent stage play, I played the role of Blanche in the Lake Worth Playhouse production of Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs, directed by Lisa Bankert and Richie Lester. It ran November 20-December 13, 2009.

Check out the Talkin' Broadway review of Brighton Beach Memoirs by John Lariviere. Here is an excerpt: "Stephanie Haber has a calm strength on stage whether paired with Steve d'Oliveira as her husband, or Amy Hoerler as her sister Blanche. The three actors interact beautifully together." Read the rest of the review here.

Woody Bavota has cast me in his film, Power of Purpose, filming in the Boston area in 2010. More about the film (including synopses) can be found via this link.

I played Louise in David Spaltro's feature length independent film, ...Around, starring Rob Evans. The film has been screened at Tribeca, selected for the Hoboken International Film Festival, Big Apple Film Festival, and the Idyllwild International Film Festival. It continues to make its way around the film festival circuit. The reviews keep trickling in. Check out what critics are saying and find out more about the film at aroundthefilm.com. I could not be prouder of David than I already am. In fact, I knew he would make this movie before he ever made it. I'm grateful he cast me in this wonderful film of his. And hopefully, he will continue to be successful in the business of making them!

Justin Owades' short comedy, It's All Relative--a film about a revealing family get-together--was shown at the Delray Beach Film Festival on May 8th, 2008. In it, I played the role of Lauren Feldman, sister-in-law of the lead character. The film was also part of the NewFilmmakers NY Film Festival, which was shown at the Anthology Film Archives January 2008.

I was nominated for "Best Supporting Actress In A Play" (2008-2009) at Lake Worth Playhouse's annual awards show for my role in Modern Orthodox. "Thank you! It's an honor!"

I made my Florida stage debut as Rachel Feinberger in the Lake Worth Playhouse production of Modern Orthodox by Daniel Goldfarb. Read the BroadwayWorld.com write-up for more info.

Amy (as 'mother') and Emma Nanamaker (as 'Margaret') in "Mother & Child"I starred in Nicholas Collura's bittersweet short, Mother & Child. Filmed on location in Rhode Island, the film is about a "distraught single mother (me) who withdraws from society to an empty and abandoned beach house seemingly at the edge of the world, where her young daughter (Emma Nanamaker), growing increasingly alienated by her mother's brooding angst, begins to receive visions of an angel (Marianne Schuck)." Premiered April 28, 2007 at the Whitney Humanities Center auditorium at Yale.

Award-winning writer/director Lulu Wang's independent short film, Can-Can (based on the story by renowned author Arturo Vivante) is "a bittersweet story about marriage and infidelity, devotion and guilt." In it, I play Sarah, the 'other woman'. The film is now being submitted to various film festivals across the country.

I play vampy call girl, Cherie, in Minos Papas' Indie feature film, Shutterbug.

Amy in InStyle

I'm enjoying my fresh, new InStyle makeover! I was one of three women selected for InStyle Magazine special issues Makeover Fall 2006 edition ("Three Degrees Of Coloration"). Thanks to InStyle Magazine (Lauren Lipton, Jordan Barnes, Gina Way, Karen Pearson), stylist Harou Noru, and celebrity colorist Rita Hazan of Rita Hazan Salon.

I star opposite Jan Leyssens as Anne in Tamas Lassu's science fiction short, Lustre (part of The 48 Hour Film Project). Screened at Landmark's Sunshine Cinema in Manhattan on April 27, 2006 at 7pm. Required elements for the film were: J. Splain, Window Washer (character), photo, drawing, or painting of a pet (prop), and "That was when I was young and naive" (line of dialogue).

I helped produce The 1 Second Film (check out my profile here). A worthy and cool project.

Misunderstandings, playing at LaMaMa etc in NYC, May 5-15

Wake Me When It's OverWake Me When It's Over is a short independent film written and directed by award-winning film-maker, Lana Bernberg (Jerome Foundation Grant Recipient, 1999). It's a "lyrical and elusive story of young women's plunge into depression as she wrestles with her identity". Unfortunately, the film has been shelved and has not been submitted to any film festivals.

I played 15+ different roles in the hit controversial hit play, I'm Gonna K*** The President! A Federal Offense, which was staged at PS 122 in Manhattan. Below is a portion of a review from BroadwayWorld.com, which 'secretly' mentions me (oh, the controversy!)

View the trailer for The 14th Day After, which was shot by Christine Ka'aloa and directed by Sean Kang. It screened at The 38th Annual BAC (Brooklyn Arts Council) International Film & Video Festival at the Brooklyn Museum. It also is screened at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Rose Cinema, in Brooklyn.

Loved playing 'Molly' in Israel Horovitz's hit play, LINE, at the 13th Street Rep in Manhattan. LINE is the longest-running Off-Off-Broadway show. I was lucky enough to act alongside notables Neil Feigeles, Jason Rosette, and Liche Azara.

Amy on The GuysStaying in? Rent The Guys

Amy on Law & Order (standing next to Jesse L. Martin) Did you catch me on Law & Order (episode "Gaijin")? I played a top reporter trying to get the scoop about the murder of a prominent Japanese model visiting New York (I was in the middle on Jessie L. Martin and Will Yun Lee for an entire scene--no lines, but still neat!)

Amy is one of 5 I was one of the five actors on Bravo TV's Do You Have It Contest, a national talent contest based on acting ability, creativity, performance, and originality. Here were a few questions I answered about what makes IT: Q: What do you think "it" is? A: "IT" is having the passion, the drive, the motivation, the dream, and the love of doing something-for me, IT's acting. Having "IT" never goes away-you are driven by this energy, and it makes you feel alive when you are doing "IT"-it's like the air we breathe! Q: What makes you think you have "it"? A: I have all of "IT" as discussed above-passion, drive, motivation, the dream and the love of acting. I believe in myself and my ability. I have devoted my life to being an actor. I think that says it all!

Amy (at age 10) goofing off with her sister Jen...I have wanted to be an actress since the age of 5. I have always had the desire to create characters and present them to an audience. It was only after the tragic events of 9/11 that I decided to pursue my dream of acting.

In late 2002, I started my acting career, stepping on stage for the very first time. Shortly thereafter, I started in film.

Due to family circumstances, I left NYC with my husband and dogs, making my home in Florida. I'm hopeful that I will continue to work in film and theater, and that someday I'll land roles in major film and television projects.

Top Amy acting questions revealed:
1. What are your favorite genres? "Drama and comedy... So, I guess dramedy? I really love mocumentary style films, too."
2. What are your current favorite TV shows? "My top current ones are Psych, The Office, 30 Rock, Lie To Me, Modern Family, Parks & Recreation, and The Ricky Gervais Show"
3. What is your favorite show of all time? "Arrested Development. And I hear they're bringing it back and there is going to be a movie, too!"
4. What TV show would you like to star in most? "Psych or The Office. Of course, any quality television show would do!"
5. Favorite movie of all time? "It's A Wonderful Life. It's the perfect movie--a very inspirational and touching film. But don't get me wrong--there are many, many more movies I love."
6. Favorite actor/actress? "Hmmm. I have many! I've always loved Jimmy Stewart. He had such a raw honesty about him. I also love Burt Reynolds--he is a genuinely wonderful man, my teacher, my mentor, and my friend. I can't tell you how lucky I am!"
